Slow It Down: In Praise of Wondering, a Manifesto
I created this thesis book for my MFA degree at Pratt, gathering a year’s observations and designs through walking, inviting people to slow down, live in the present moment, and become focused.
Cover
The hardbound cover was inspired by a daily occurrence: a hazelnut knocked my head. It was such a sweet event that it deserved to be memorialized on the covers.
Poster Series
The poster series is the pinnacle of the "slow appreciation" concept, serving as a significant culmination of a year of observation and thought, as well as the key design aspects of the book.
Binding & Typography
The accordion pages correspond to the walking concept, giving more flexibility in laying out the images. The complex binding process is also a practice of slowing down.
